How to conduct a scientific interview
Course Description: Do you want to learn or improve qualitative research skills? The Scientific Interviewing course teaches you the tools for setting up, conducting, analyzing and reporting interviews. The course covers the following topics:
1) Structuring and asking good questions.
2) Different qualitative methods, such as focus groups.
3) Advanced interview techniques: listening, summarizing and non-verbal techniques.
4) Ethics and data management.
5) Different types of respondents, such as professionals and emotional topics.
6) Analysis software Atlas.ti.
7) (narrative) analysis methods and reproducibility.
Finally, students present what they have learned and how they apply it in their research. The course is taught by guest speakers from the NSCR and the VU, who are experts in the art of interviewing. The maximum number of participants is 20.

When: The course consists of eight sessions, on Wednesday afternoon, from May 7, 2024 to June 25, 2024 (NB: one Thursday! May 22 instead of May 21), from 13.30-17.00 (3.5 hours).

Extra Information: The course is given in Dutch. You will receive 4 ECTS for active participation in at least 6 of the 8 sessions. The last session on June 25 is mandatory for everyone.
