Normative Legal Research

Course Description: In this course, participants will study how to examine normative frameworks and develop normative legal arguments. This course will enable participants to:

  • grasp basic tenets of selection of normative theories and (counter) arguments, comparing and analyzing such theories and arguments;
  • explain their normative research approach to enable exchange and collaboration with colleagues outside of law and humanities;
  • critically reflect on the nature and point of normative legal analysis; and
  • further deepen their normative legal analysis skills through specialized coursework.

Prior Requirements: None.

When: The course has 4 classes, on the following dates:

  • 07 May 2026, 14:00 – 16:00
  • 21 May 2026, 14:00 – 16:00
  • 28 May 2026, 14:00 – 16:00
  • 04 June 2026, 14:00 – 16:00

Maximum of external participants: The course has up to five spots available for staff from other universities.
