Machine Learning and AI

Course Description: In this course, participants will explore key artificial intelligence techniques and their methodological relevance for legal studies, gaining foundational knowledge of machine learning, automated reasoning, and large language models. This course will enable participants to:

  • understand the fundamental principles of machine learning, automated reasoning, and large language models;
  • recognize how AI techniques can inform and advance legal research;
  • critically assess the methodological role of AI in the study of law;
  • connect AI concepts to their own research field through the analysis of a relevant paper;
  • communicate effectively with AI and computer science experts despite having no prior technical background; and
  • develop a foundation for future interdisciplinary research involving AI and legal studies.

  • 29 January 2026, 11:00-14:00

Maximum of external participants: The course has up to five spots available for staff from other universities.
