Practical information
On Friday the 7th of October 2022, from 12:00 to 13:15, ERI organised a seminar focused on one of the big challenges that many of us involved in conducting Empirical Legal Research have to overcome: finding, structuring and analysing big amounts of data. The seminar took place at the Newtonlaan, in room 4A-24/30. Lunch was provided.
Both Han Gulyás (assistant professor) and Stijn van Deursen (PhD candidate) have developed their own methodologies for overcoming these challenges and will give a brief introduction of their research and the methods they apply. The main aim of this seminar is however to make a tour de table in order to make an inventory of the projects that you have been working on, the issues that you have encountered and, potentially, the solutions that you have found. On the basis of the meeting, we will make an overview of the unanswered questions and the expertise that we would like to add to our research cluster. We will use this information for organising a second seminar on which we will invite an expert to help us further develop our potential. If you are willing to give a more extensive presentation on your research and methodologies, please just reach out to us.
We hoped that this meeting could contribute to making the knowledge and expertise that exists in our research cluster available, and to inspire ERI researchers to explore new avenues for doing research.
