Practical information
In this session Mijke de Waardt will explore the use of mix-methods in studying Interim Reparative Measures (IRM) provided by the Global Survivors Fund (GSF) in Guinea and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This session will highlight findings from a longitudinal study on the IRM and the perceived improvements in the quality of life of survivors of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV). Mijke will discuss how combining qualitative methods, such as photo-elicitation and concept mapping, with quantitative approaches during three different moments of the implementation enables a deeper understanding of survivors’ lived experiences and measurable changes. This session is highly relevant for researchers interested in combining participatory methods with standardized tools and in empirically examining reparative justice.
LEVEL: Basic
METHOD: Qualitative and quantitative
PREREQUISITES AND REGISTRATION: No prior knowledge required. The meeting will be online (please send an email to m.j.mulders@vu.nl for the Teams link). ELS Academy’s No-Show Policy:
Please note that the workshops are given by experts in the field who do this on a voluntary basis. Places are often limited and we have people on the waiting list. For this reason, the ELS Academy has a strict no-show policy. In case you are prevented from attending the workshop, kindly send an email to contact@elsacademy.nl at least 48 hours before the workshop to make space for people on the waiting list.
If you do not attend the workshop without prior cancellation, your supervisor will be informed about your no-show and you will not be able to register for another ELS Academy event for the next two months. This is also very unfortunate for us, however, it can be prevented if we receive a simple cancellation via e-mail.
Thank you for understanding and see you there!
