Empirical Legal Studies Sector Plan

The ELS Academy contributes to the training and support of beginning empirical-legal researchers. The ambition is to enable more researchers at the various faculties to ask empirical questions and to provide them with the empirical “toolbox” to answer those questions. New research groups are being set up at the various faculties, mostly bringing together legal and social scientists. With the recruitment of young researchers, a new generation of empirical-legal researchers is emerging who are driving empirical-legal research at their faculties.

“Research within the ELS is diverse in both the topics and the research methods used. In line with the ELS’ mission to increase the presence of empirical-legal research within the legal sciences, participating faculty are developing new courses in the curriculum of both undergraduate and graduate programs.”
